now if only

my nose would cooperate and stop running away. then i wouldn't be so miserable.

rook comes out june 3. read interviews here and here.

they also covered talk talk's 'the rainbow' from the album 'the spirit of eden'.

i can't help but think they must have borrowed some ideas from their album cover.

i couldn't be happier.

thursday and friday were very eventful. good thing was that everything worked out in the end. i got the posting i wanted, the platoon commanders are fantastic, so i think i can look forward to coming out for sailing! in fact things are so great i can race the laser trophy next week.

i'm afraid to disclose much info since this is the internet and someone already saved my ass yesterday (thanks sir), i don't need anymore reminders to stay safe.

mr. chiew showed us this video once, which cai's blog has now reminded me of. this is for kwong ming, for melissa, michael shen, for tan ying hao, for xin ling, for me, everyone really.

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'

Come mothers and fathers
All over the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly agin'
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
And the present now
Will later be past
The order is rapidly fadin'
The first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'
For the times they are a-changin'

home

He calls me to the ocean
Takes me wandering through the street
A restless imagination
But for now, I move my feet on the ground
'Cause I feel like going home

it's always soooo nice to be home.

I can float above the ceiling
I like drifting through the air
I tend to lose my concentration
But right now the clouds don't appeal to much
I feel like going home

i hate it when people argue. i can understand the motivation to win an argument, but i never see the need for anyone to get so worked up that they begin shouting at each other in aggression.

Sometimes late at night
While runnin' from the rain
Running from the voices
Filling up my brain
Now I wish they'd leave me alone
And let me be
To go off on my own
Let me be to go home
I feel like going home

-yo la tengo.

i hate it when we argue at the dinner table.

cheese pies.

here's an update. next friday i have my passing out parade, concluding my 9 week course. my posting to lecc is almost confirmed, which is good for my situation. lecc spells another month of orientation drill, rifle pt and standing at attention in the parade square. it also spells a possibility of appearing on tv for ndp, or standing guard outside the istana.

today nsc is open for a fund-raising event. i should get to see our new coach too.

some time ago i wondered about school politics. before a long chat i had on the mrt last week, i always thought i understood what it meant. maybe it's because i never bothered to get involved in it, never really cared about it.

"you're hardly ever in school anyway."
"yeah, i'm like missing out on some soap opera entitled 'school life'."

i remember that scene.

so, apparently it is about scandals, talking behind people's back, rumours about the character that lies behind the face the public sees, who's together with who and who's no longer together with who.

no wonder i ignored it.

somehow some similar things are happening in these last 2 weeks between my platoon mates. i just hope it doesn't turn ugly cuz i have friends on both sides. and i think it's all really immature at times.

funny how in the army, guard duty and postings reveal the unpretty side in people.

if mono really do come to singapore i would love to see them. it would be the first time in a long while i get to see a band who i've actually actively listening to before their gig.

i am david sparkle sounds quite good too.

no wait, change that, they sound fantastic.

funny thought of the day opus 85

if ever i were to have a keelboat it would be called juno junior.

i have funny thoughts quite regularly.

. . .

Jacqueline du Pré was an English cellist known for her 'definitive' and 'legendary' interpretation of Elgar's cello concerto in E minor. In 1971 her cello playing fell into an irreversible decline due to multiple sclerosis, a condition in which the immune system attacks the central nervous system. As a result she lost sensitivity of her fingers as well as in other parts of her body.

Part 1, Part 2 of a documentary.

i've got a few new tunes to play. looking forward to matching up to the saxophone tonight.

nanotechnology

a nanometer is one billionth of a meter. that's like comparing the size of a marble to the size of earth.

national geographic is my reading material during my army days. hopefully i retain enough brain matter for the future.

a human hair is about 80,000 nanometers wide.

i'll be visiting tekong for 3 days next week for my moonlight marshall (field camp). setting up traffic relay control points and POW cages. it'll be funny if i get to see familiar faces like greg or maxi.

the nail on your little finger is about ten million nanometers across.

i won't be getting very much sleep.

shaquille o'neal is 2,160,000,000 nanometers tall.

last.fm tells me that the lucksmiths is coming to this island for baybeats 2008. i think seeing them once is enough eh? but it's interesting news.

alright hana f-ing c(harlie) b(ravo), i shall learn incubus' 'drive' for you. dum dum da da daa da dum da.

would you choose water over wine,
hold the wheel and drive.
